How we source every number
Every pitch, gauge, drive link count and part number on this site comes from a chart published by the chain maker or the saw maker. These are the documents we use.
| Source | What we take from it |
|---|---|
| Oregon Chain & Bar Fit-up Guide (2016) | Bar length, chain code and drive links per saw model |
| Oregon retail fit-up guide | Recent models, and OEM machine, chain and bar numbers where printed |
| Oregon chain code letter table | What each code letter means: type, pitch, gauge, file and family |
| Oregon Part Finder catalogue | Oregon part numbers, bar mounts, and pitch and gauge for saws not in the guide |
| Oregon bar numbering system PDF | What bar mount codes such as A074 and K095 mean |
| Oregon maintenance manual, p.12 | Drive link stamp numbers to pitch and gauge |
Rules we follow
- If no chart lists a saw, its page says so and shows you how to check the chain yourself.
- A renamed model can take a different chain, so the Stihl 017 and MS170 each get their own page.
- Stihl and Husqvarna equivalents are shown only where Oregon publishes them.
